- Yaruba basket - Nigeria - West Africa
- Dimensions: 20cm x 11cm x 14cm
- These intricate, one of a kind, vintage leather & beaded baskets are used for carrying a variety of daily items
- Among the Yoruba tribe, beadwork is the province of the Ifa diviner, something akin to a holy man
- Worn by Babalawo (diviners), beaded baskets such as this would hold the diviner's regalia and cowrie shells that would be tossed onto the ground and interpreted by the diviner
- Please note that many of our handmade items are one of a kind,perfectly imperfect,vintage and have indigenous decorative repair work which we believe adds to the intrinsic value and beauty of the items
