Home keychain - Small
Description
This collection piece has been proudly handcrafted by the San Bushman Artisans in D’kar in western Botswana. Archeologists have found evidence of ostrich eggshell beads being made, traded, made into jewelry, and worn as adornments on clothing for over 50,000 years across eastern and southern Africa. Today, the women of the San Bushman community in western Botswana, for whom the ostrich egg is a symbol of good luck and good fortune, still make these beads by hand. They use the beads to make unique jewelry and integrate them into textile product designs. These beautiful pieces embody the spirit and story of the San heritage, customs and resilience.
Keychain made with silver plated split ring seed beads, frosted beads and sustainably-sourced ostrich eggshell beads. Size:11.5cm. Handmade in Botswana.
